Apps & Games content ratings on Softonic

Content ratings help you understand the type of content you might find in an app or game, so you can decide if they are suitable for you and your family.

What do the ratings actually tell me?

Content ratings describe the minimum age we feel the content is suitable for. It does not indicate that the app was specifically designed for that particular age, or if a certain level of skill is required to play the game or use the app.

Where can I find the content ratings?

You will find the content ratings on every app or game page.

Why are some apps or games unrated?

If an app or game does not have a rating, it means that it has not yet been rated, or it’s been rated and we’re working to update the page.

Rating Systems

Softonic uses the rating systems by PEGI and ESRB. The ratings you see may vary by country or region.

Project64 is a complete graphics and sound emulator for the Nintendo 64 so you canb relive all your favourite N64 games.

The emulator is very fast and works with an R4300i and RSP compiler and the graphics use OpenGL y Direct3D.

Roll back the years and settle down to one of your favourite childhood/teenage classics!

"P64 would seem like heaven at first sight, but look closer and its dying."

Project64 is what would seem nice to anyone walking by. "Wait, you can play N64 games on your PC now?" they would say, and then they'd install it just for nostalgia points. It's a great idea right from the get go, and it works pretty well, you can play multiplayer, the games seem to be high quality on powerful computers, and you can play good ol' Nintendo 64 games without having to pull the damn thing out. But take another look at it now and you see something different. For starters, using the keyboard to emulate the feel of the N64 controller is a pain in the ass, and now matter how much you change the keys, it always feels weird, especially while playing classics such as Goldeneye 007, or Perfect Dark for that matter. You would think that you could plug in ANY gamepad to ditch the loisy feel of the keyboard for a while, but unless you mod P64 a hell of a lot, you can only use a wingman rumblepad, which I do have one of those but just the other day some asshole came over and tore one of the plastic sticks down the middle, so it's now rather painful on my thumbs when using it now. But on top of that theres an even bigger issue, it's now harder to get the files to play the games with P64. Nintendo is now cracking down on those who emulate their games, which should seem quite unfair at first until you realize they're now selling old games at a high price on the Wii U. But then not all of the files will work, don't get me wrong, the files work most of the time, but you'll be trying to find a better place to get that one specific file often with P64.

So Project64, it's a great concept but it can't save itself from the massive amounts of shit that's going on right about now.

Pros
  • Emulates N64 games pretty damn well
  • HEY! You can play N64 games on your PC now without having to pull the damn thing out!
Cons
  • The keyboard doesn't work all too well when trying to emulate the feel of a N64 controller
  • Only supports the wingman rumblepad unless you mod it
  • Not all the files work with P64
  • It's now harder to emulate N64 games and so forth, because Nintendo wants to resell them for the Wii U... at $10 or more!
